WHO WE ARE:
Israelites are descendants of the original Hebrews (The Children of Israel) of the Torah. Many of us lost our identity as part of our punishment for turning away from the laws, statutes and commandments of The Most High. We have taken on many forms of idol worship (Christianity, Islam, etc.) but now many of us are returning to the belief system of our forefathers and foremothers. Our people have been given many names and have been scattered the world over, as prophesied and as a consequence, most of us have no knowledge of our nationality, our heritage, or our history. We are found in the Americas and the Caribbean, Europe, Africa, Israel, etc. Nearly every place on the earth, we are there. To learn more about the history of Israelites in America, see: Who Are the Hebrew Israelites? on Forward.com or The History of Israelites in America with Rabbi Shlomo Levy
WHAT WE BELIEVE:
We are a culture, a family and a nation that adheres to the word of Yah, our Elohim. We only adhere to the Torah/TNK of The Most High. Some Israelites are Messianic; they accept NT teachings of Yeshua/Yahshua as Ha Mashiach (given the name "Ieosus/Jesus"). As a general rule, we do not believe in or worship Jesus Christ as G-d. We do not ascribe to G-d/man theology, the virgin birth or the trinity doctrine. We prefer not to refer to ourselves as being "Black Jews" or "Jewish" but rather use the terms "Israelites" "Yehudim" "Ervreh" "IVRI" or "Hebrew-Israelites." Some of us have chosen to convert to mainstream Judaism sects, while the rest of us prefer not to do so. Although many of our practices and beliefs are similar, we do not as Hebrew-Israelites adhere to all practices, teaching and belief traditions of Orthodox Judaism (Medieval Judaism/Pharisaism).
We do not refer to ourselves as "Christians." We celebrate the festivals of YHWH only. We do not celebrate or hold Christmas, or Easter as "holy days." Pesach, Tabernacles, Purim, Trumpets, and Atonement are examples of the Holy Days of The Most High. We honor the Biblical Sabbath which is the 7th day of the week, Friday sundown to Saturday sundown. Some of us follow the lunar Shabbat times instead. We are Torah-observant, and believe that YHWH's law still stands and applies today.
Translations from the Hebrew Bible such as the TORAH, THE TANAKH (and THE APOCRYPHA for some) are our sacred scriptures. Those who accept Yeshua as HaMashiach also use the original King James 1611 version English bible. Talmud ( The Mishneh Torah and Gemara) is not considered Holy Scripture but is commentary. Anything that appears to contradict the Torah, we choose to observe Torah. We at the Hebrew Israelite Homeschool, the keepers of this website resource, are Torah-based only and do not ascribe to the NT belief system. However, all are welcome to use this resource.
The Hebrew Israelite Homeschool website does not subscribe to or tolerate hatred, nor do we support, condone, associate with or are a part of any groups, organizations or individuals that subscribe to hate or a supremacist philosophy of any kind. We believe that anyone who follows the laws, statutes and commandments of The Most High can be accepted as part of us ( and sojourn with us) and has a place in the world to come, regardless of race, ethnicity or national origin as it is written:
"But the foreigner that dwells with you he shall be to you as one born amongst you, and You shall love him as yourself; for you were foreigners in the land of Mitzrayim. I am Yah your power which brought you out of the land of Mitzrayim." (Wayikra 19:34, Hidden Truths Hebraic Scrolls)
"You shall not abhor an Edomite for he is your kinsman. You shall not abhor an Egyptian, for you were a stranger in his land. Children born to them may be admitted into the congregation of Yah in the third generation." (Devarim 23:8-9, The Tanakh)
"One law and one ordinance shall be both for you, and for the stranger that sojourneth with you." (Bamidbar 15:16, The Tanakh)
To get a more complete understanding of Hebrew Israelite belief and culture, we've added the following video classes:
Disclaimer - Keep in mind that not all HI sects follow the same exact practices presented or discussed in the videos below. Many Israelites are strictly Torah-based and do not ascribe to messianic NT beliefs (Jesus Christ (Yeshua) as Messiah and the virgin birth, for example). Many tenets basic to all HI are presented, however.
